Appearance
Josie stands at a mere 155 cm, and has a very petite build. She doesn't really workout much, but she's always loved running, which explains her size. She has long dark brown hair that she sometimes adds in funky colors, just to spice up her usual boring wardrobe at Hogwarts. She has a few tattoos that unless she forgets to wear stockings, can be seen easily. She has a set dedicated to her favorite book series 'The Raven Cycle' on her right thigh, an owl on her left ankle and a few quotes on her arms. Her style in and out of her uniform would be considered 'hippie' and 'boho'. In the fall and winter she loves big sweaters and over-the-knee socks and in the summertime its sundresses and lace. She tries to incorporate her style into her uniform as much as she can, but can be difficult at times, leaving her to get in trouble by McGonagall for dress-code violations.
Personality
Every boyfriend that Josie has ever had, has called her weird, which she is. Coming from someone who has never talked to her, she comes off as very reserved and almost shy. Reserved, she is, shy she is not. She just hates small talk more than she despises snakes. She also is reserved, naturally, when she's at home or in her dorm reading. Being alone, she's very in her mind. She has gone days without speaking before, just because she was home alone. However, when she's with friends, there's a switch that flips. She's fun, outgoing, and can be loud. She loves drinking and letting loose. While these things don't happen often, they do happen. One thing that no one seems to know, is while she lives in her mind, it's not exactly the nicest place to be. She is a recovering anorexic and has mild depression. Her parents had her regularly taken to therapists but her new adoptive parents had let her depression medication run out and hasn't been keeping an eye on her episodes.
History
Josephine Elizabeth Kerns was born on a dark and stormy October 13th night around 9:30 pm in Boston, MA. She had to wonderful parents, Ronald and Terry Kerns. They raised her with as much love as they could a little girl. She got nearly everything she wanted after doing whatever her parents wanted her to do to get it. Terry was an English teacher at the local college and her dad was a librarian, so her love of books and reading was engrained to her since she was a little girl.
Her life was great, and it got even better when she was 11 and got a letter saying that she was invited to go to Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, which made so much sense to her parents. She was a Pukwudgie. She had the best friends she could ask for and excelled at learning magic. While her life seemed perfect from the outside, the longer she went to school with all these beautiful, skinny girl, she began to develop anorexia nervosa and body dysmorphia. She ran every day for miles a day and barely ate. When she went home for Thanksgiving break during her 5th year, her parents noticed and immediately sent her to a therapist and she began going as often as she could when she was home and slowly started recovering. Along the way, her therepist noticed that a long with her anorexia, she also had mild case of chronic depression. She had episodes but they are few and far between once she was put on antidepressants.
Everything was ok again. She wasn’t thinking bad thoughts as often and she was eating (while still running because somehow she fell in love with it), until she found out mid school year, that her parents were killed by a drunk driver and she was an orphan. Unable to take her in, she was given up to the state until she was adopted by a couple in Great Britain. They had no idea that she was a witch, until she got her letter from Hogwarts saying she was accepted and invited to start her next school year there. This changed their entire mood and became mean, and abusive. They called her a mistake and abomination. Thankfully, they dropped her off at Kings Cross on September 1st, and they hadn’t heard from her since. With Hogwarts newest policy to adopt kids that didn’t have a safe home to go to, she had decided to stay there until she turned 18 and graduated.
At Hogwarts, they told her that she was a year behind to their standards so when she was sorted, she became a 5th year Ravenclaw at 15 going on 16.
