Ryan held back his laughter. "Bane of your existence?" He teased, starting to pick up his books he needed. "Are you sure it isn't your natural feelings towards Slytherins?" he said with a smile. He knew that Gryffindors and Slytherins, while a like in most ways, generally hated each other. Being a Hufflepuff, Ryan didn't really hate anyone.

"No, it isn't Slytherin I can't stand, it's people in general," she said picking up a worn book. She was choosing from the donated section where she could get them at a cheaper price. She didn't care if she was rich or not, and she didn't care if others knew she wasn't about to spend more than she had to on school books. "I think you forget people annoy me."

He chuckled. "True, they do" he said as he grabbed most of his off the shelf. "I've just noticed the rift between those to houses over the years" He said, holding the books in his hand, turning back to her.

"Well they are arrogant, selfish, devious, and manipulative. All those I've spoken with anyways" she went to the checkout with her heavy books "I don't bother cooperating with them for all of those reasons."

He chuckled. "Some are just passionate" he said, shrugging his shoulders. "But that line between you guys doesn't help anything" he grinned his usual goofy grin.

Hazel looked over at him and smiled crookedly, the smile she could only manage with him. Somehow he was the only one to make her see things in a different light. "You might be too cheerful for your own good," she said putting her books in a magical bag that made them light as a feather. "I was going to go and have some ice cream if you're interested" she offered.

He chuckled and nudged his shoulder against her. "My happiness is rubbing off on you" he said with a smirk before nodding. "Ice cream sounds amazing" he said, throwing his own backpack over his shoulder with a small grunt.

Hazel rolled her eyes with a coy smile "Oh now don't go getting a big head" she said as she walked out of the bookstore and down the street towards the ice cream parlor.

Ryan started ahead of her on accident, always forgetting to walk slower for shorter people. He stopped when he looked down and she wasn't there "sorry" he said with a nervous chuckle.

Hazel sped up to catch up with him and laughed lightly "It's okay, but you might want to slow down for someone as slow as me."

Ryan chuckled again. "Its hard to remember that not everyone has long legs" he teased, nudging her slightly as they came up to the ice cream parlor. He opened the door and grinned. "After you"

Hazel managed a small smile and nodded "Again, always the gentleman" she stepped inside "It's refreshing compared to others" she sighed rolling her eyes. "You'd think some of that could rub off on others at the school. Christopher being one of them."

Ryan chuckled. Hazel was one of his best friends, and he knew how much she had to deal with from Christopher. " He's just an ass. I'd ignore him" Ryan said with a smile. He'd dealt with Christopher a few times himself, but it was always best to ignore the assholes. |

Ryan laughed as he walked inside behind her. "Does he really do that?" he asked as he got in line behind the other Hogwarts students getting ice cream in between their new school year shopping.
