Appearance
Ezera (pronounced Ezra) is a bleach blonde, eyeliner wearing, funky clothes loving Hufflepuff. Standing at 163 centimeters or 5'4, she's a lot of personality packed into a relatively small body. She is usually seen in either her uniform or her lab coat infirmary get up that she usually personalizes because unfortunately the school uniforms aren't exactly the most unique, although she tries her best. Outside of class, she loves wearing a mismatched bunch of clothes that are usually centered completely around comfort. Her hair, as mentioned above, is a bleach blonde bob that is typically a mess she barely bothers to brush. She also loves her eyeliner and is usually seen with a smokey eye, it's pretty much the only makeup she wears, making her unusually pale skin pop. She hates shoes and unless she's working or she's in class, she's barefoot.
Personality
Ezera is typically seen as a bit of an anomaly. She tends to be snarky and sarcastic, but somehow manages to charm people. She's outgoing, warm, and welcoming but in a flash she can completely shut down. To a stranger, she might seem aloof and possibly even standoffish at times if she feels uncomfortable or threatened. She has been through a lot and she is very, very afraid to be vulnerable, which drives her to be guarded as much as possible. While this has caused some issues in her life, she is still a young woman with a lot of hope for her future. Academically driven, she puts a lot into her schooling to ensure that she can have a good career. She absolutely loves working in the infirmary, it brings out the best in her. History
Ezera Marceline Carstairs was born to muggle parents, Marcella and Carson on the bright sunny day of July 13th, seemingly normal and healthy. They weren't very well off and unfortunately both struggled with a variety of mental illnesses and drug problems, that would eventually lead to the demise of their marriage when Ezera was 6. After their split, she lived in numerous seedy places with her mom that weren't very good for a child. She had to learn to take care of both herself and her drug addict mom, their rolls were unfortunately switched. The only thing that even slightly helped when all of this was going on was the things she was able to do with her mind to help herself. Plates floated down to her, spills evaporated, and her dolls would dance around her. However sometimes the abilities got scary and she always wondered what was wrong with her.
When she was 9, her dirty clothes and her lack of lunch caught the eye of a teacher and she was swiftly plucked out of her mothers care and placed into foster care where her life quickly spiralled out of control. She went through 4 different foster homes in the first year, all filled with questionable and unsafe characters, some of them left both physical and mental scars. She would get caught using her weird abilities and it would cause extreme ridicule, sometimes even abuse. Finally when she was 11 years old, a letter randomly showed up at her current foster home that changed her life and she was whisked away to a new and magical place that swiftly became her home. Thankfully because Hogwarts had opened it's doors, she had the privilege of being one of the kids who got adopted in, and she wasn't forced to go back EVER to her previous life.
However, the abuse she faced in her foster homes when her powers would get out of control caused her to be terrified of learning to use her magic and she was slightly a late bloomer. However once she realized that Hogwarts was a safe place where there were other people like her, she opened up a bit and her magic flourished, quickly causing her to be near the top of her class. When it became apparent that healing was her calling, she secured a place in the infirmary as an intern and has been working there every year since was in 5th year, it's the place at Hogwarts where she feels the most at home.
